The poultry industry stands by its mantra of 'Small footprint, big impact' as it represents the single largest segment of the South African agricultural economy. With a retail turnover in excess of 28 billion rand last year, the poultry industry makes up more than 20% of South Africa's agricultural gross domestic product.

With this in mind, the premier poultry event of its kind on the continent – the 103rd Southern African Poultry Association congress and exhibition – will take place at Emperor's Palace in Johannesburg from the 21st to the 23rd April 2009.

The organisers say that it offers an unparalleled opportunity for exhibitors and delegates to reach, network and interact. AVI Africa brings together all major players in the poultry industry from large and smaller owner producers and suppliers through to key decision makers from big corporations.

AVI Africa 2009 also showcases the latest in products, techniques and services aimed at enhancing business and maximising profits of the commercial poultry agricultural enterprise.

The well-attended congress run in parallel with AVI Africa also attracts delegates who want to keep abreast of the latest trends and improvements in the industry, and provides an additional incentive for producers to attend the exhibition as well.

A regular draw card year after year is the AVI Africa exhibition arena, where chick, egg and broiler producers from the commercial and emerging market sectors are exposed to the widest range of practical developments and commercial solutions, all designed to meet the unique agricultural requirements of the poultry industry.
