With a retail turnover in excess of 28 billion rand last year, the poultry industry makes up more than 20% of South Africa's agricultural gross domestic product.

With this in mind, the premier poultry event of its kind on the continent – the 103rd Southern African Poultry Association congress and exhibition – will take place at Emperor's Palace in Johannesburg from the 21st to the 23rd April 2009.
