The Brazilian Poultry Breeders Union (UBA) says it has cut down production at hatcheries from 485 million birds a month to 400 million birds until the market finds a level, according to Argentine Beef Packers SA.

This is preferable to carrying large stocks of produced poultry, that has to be stored, UBA explained.

Around 70 per cent of poultry meat produced in Brazil is consumed within the country.
