More Bird Flu in Bangladesh
BANGLADESH - The veterinary authorities have sent a follow-up report to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on the situation with highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in the country. There have been two new outbreaks.Follow-up report number 9 from the Bangladeshi veterinary authorities is dated 17 December and describes new outbreaks of HPAI on two commercial farms in Rangpur (Rajshahi district in the north-west) and in Norsingdi (Dhaka district in central Bangladesh).
In total, 3900 birds were involved, of which 119 died and the rest were destroyed. H5N1 has been confirmed.
