Four More Bird Flu Cases in Bangladesh

BANGLADESH - The veterinary authorities have sent a report to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) regarding four new cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).

The Bangladeshi veterinary authority has sent Follow Up Report No. 15 dated 26 February to OIE concerning four new cases of HPAI.

All four cases are in the same area (Dhaka). One very small backyard flock and three commercial farms were involved. In total, 3153 birds were affected, 475 of which died. All the remaining birds were destroyed.

The presence of the H5N1 virus sub-type has been confirmed.
