One New Bird Flu Outbreak in Bangladesh

BANGLADESH - The veterinary authorities have sent a report to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) about a new case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).

The Bangladeshi veterinary authority sent Follow up Report No. 14, dated 10 February, to OIE describing one new case of HPAI.

It occurred in a flock of 1500 commercial birds in Dhamgar, in the Narayanganj district of Dhaka. There were 661 cases, all of which died. The rest of the flock was destroyed.

The presence of the H5N1 virus was confirmed.
