Sweden Declared Newcastle-Free

SWEDEN - Sweden is now free of Newcastle disease, according to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The Swedish veterinary authority has declared the country free of Newcastle disease.

In accordance with Article 10.13.3 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Sweden declares regaining its Newcastle disease-free country status from 5 February 2009. This is three months after the euthanising of the infected animals including disinfection of all affected establishments.
