Bird Flu Restrictions Gradually Lifted in BC

BRITISH COLUMBIA (BC), CANADA - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has lifted restrictions on 22 farms following the earlier outbreaks of avian influenza.

CFIA has removed restrictions on 22 farms after completing a 21-day surveillance and testing period that followed CFIA approval of primary composting on the second infected premises. All testing on these premises has been negative

The total number of quarantined premises as of 18 March 2009 is nine.
