Foster Farms CEO Comments on Plant Purchase

US - The chief executive officer of Foster Farms says his company is pleased to have reached agreement with Pilgrim's Pride over the purchase of the latter's Louisiana plant.

Meat and Poultry reports that Foster Farms is pleased to have reached an agreement with Pilgrim’s Pride for the purchase of Pilgrim's Farmerville, Louisiana, chicken production complex. The comments were made by Ron Foster, chief executive officer of Foster Farms. Pilgrim's Pride in a press release issued on 20 March announced plans for the sale.

Pending an asset purchase agreement, additional details are not available, Mr Foster said.

"This purchase represents a significant opportunity for the Farmerville community and for our family-owned poultry company," he added. "We take great pride in the quality of our products, the dedication and skills of our employees, and look forward to many decades of shared success in this new venture.

"We are grateful to the people of Louisiana and especially to Governor Bobby Jindal and his staff for their enthusiastic support throughout this process," Mr Foster told Meat and Poultry.
