CRCs foster long-term, collaborative arrangements between researchers from CSIRO, universities and other government laboratories, and private industry or public-sector agencies.

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) contributes equipment and research management skills and helps supervise the development of approximately 100 postgraduate research students each year.

The Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator the Hon. Kim Carr, announced funding for ten CRCs in the 11th selection round.

Among the successful grants involving CSIRO researchers are its Livestock Industries, which will work collaboratively in the Poultry CRC (PCRC), using the AUD 28 million grant extension to help Australia achieve sustainable, ethical poultry production.
