The school attracted more than 115 participants from 26 countries around the world.

The event featured four days of intensive training and demonstrations. Classroom lectures and on-site field visits were combined to create the most informative and exciting programmes of this type in the layer industry.

Topics discussed at the technical service school included the most recent advancements in genetic research, disease control, nutrition and feed requirements, layer breeder management, vaccination programs and hatchery management. The lecturers included Hy-Line International staff and experts from the poultry industry including; Dr Darrell Trampel, poultry diagnostician and poultry extension veterinarian at Iowa State University, Dr Jack Dekkers and Dr Dorian Garrick, animal science professors from Iowa State University, and Bob Krouse, CEO of Midwest Poultry Services.

"The Hy-Line International Technical School was a success with more participants than in the past, showing the great interest in Hy-Line’s products," said Dr Kristjan Bregendahl, Hy-Line Director of Technical Services.

"The participants visited Hy-Line's facilities and learned first-hand from our technicians and invited scholars through presentations and hands-on learning activities. The interaction among participants was remarkable and experiences from different management systems in different regions of the world were exchanged. It is very satisfying that our customers from many countries arrive at the school as strangers and, by the end of the week, they have become friends and a part of the Hy-Line family."

Copies of the presentations from the technical school may be accessed in the library section of the Hy-Line web site.

Hy-Line's next technical service school is planned for June 2011.
