The National Farmers and Fishermen Award Winners Association is against the mass importation of poultry products, which it says has brought about the virtual collapsed of the country's poultry industry, which currently employs 4,625 people.

Ghana Broadcasting Corporation reports the Association stating that the industry has the capacity to employ about 498,000 people to help reduce the high unemployment in the country.

The National President of the Association, Philip Abayori, who made this known at an Agriculture symposium in Kumasi earlier this week called on policy-makers to come out with workable strategies to address the problem.
