DENMARK - Another farm has tested positive for low-pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) during routine surveillance, the second one this year.

The Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries reports that, on 24 March 2010, an outbreak of LPAI of the type H7 was found in a holding with 2,700 mallard ducks for breeding near Brenderup in the municipality Middelfart on the island Funen.

The holding was tested in accordance with the Danish surveillance programme for avian influenza in poultry. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration have established a restricted zone of one kilometre around the holding and are implementing the control measures in accordance with Council directive 2005/94/EC.
