International Egg and Poultry Review: US

Total quantity of US egg and egg product imports in 2009 were down eight per cent when compared to 2004. Meanwhile, the total value of egg and egg and product imports for the same time frame declined approximately 34 per cent. In 2009, about 80 per cent of US total quantity of egg and egg products imports came from Canada. Egg albumen, other than dried was the most popular item imported in 2009.

Total quantity of US poultry meat imports in 2009 were up 178 per cent when compared to 2004. In 2009, a little over 84 per cent of the total quantity of US poultry meat imports came from Canada. Approximately 60 per cent of Canada’s exports to the US consisted of frozen fowl cuts. Total frozen fowl cuts were about 63 per cent of total US poultry meat imports in 2009.
