Seven New Bird Flu Outbreaks Hit Viet Nam

VIET NAM - Seven new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreaks have been reported.

The veterinary authority in Viet Nam sent Follow Up Report No. 40 dated 3 March to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report covers seven outbreaks of HPAI across the country. Starting between 12 and 26 February, more than 8,000 birds were involved and of these, 2,794 died and 5,327 were destroyed.

The presence of the H5N1 sub-type of the virus has been confirmed.
