US Monthly Egg Products Report - March 2010

US - Two per cent more shell eggs were broken during February 2010 than the same month a year earlier, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in their monthly Egg Products report.

Shell eggs broken totalled 150 million dozen during February 2010, up two per cent from February a year ago, but five per cent below the 158 million broken last month.

Both February 2009 and February 2010 contained 20 weekdays (including one holiday) and four Saturdays.

During calendar year 2010 through February, shell eggs broken totalled 308 million dozen, down one per cent from the comparable period in 2009. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2010 was 402 million pounds, down one per cent from 2009.
