According to US trade officials, the two sides have signed a letter to resume exports of US poultry not treated with chlorine, and included three alternative pathogen-reduction treatments (PRTs) – cetylpyridinium chloride (sold under the Cecure brand), hydrogen peroxide and peroxyacetic acid.

The agreement will require a new letterhead certificate with verification from the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) that PRTs used by the processing company are on the approved list.

It is still unclear if existing inventory will be eligible for export under the new agreement.
