Pullorum Disease Hits Breeding Flock

JAPAN - Salmonella pullorum has been found in a small flock of breeding chickens.

The veterinary authority has sent Immediate Notification dated 2 August to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The sub-clinical form of the diseases was found on 30 July in a flock of 800 breeding chickens in Kyoto city. Three birds died and nine were destroyed. The last outbreak of pullorum diseases in Japan was in May 2002.
