US Monthly Egg Products Report - August 2010

US - Two per cent more shell eggs were broken during July 2010 than the same month a year earlier, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in its monthly Egg Products report.

Shell eggs broken totalled 179 million dozen during July 2010, up two per cent from July a year ago but four per cent below the 186 million broken the previous month.

July 2010 contained 22 weekdays (including one holiday) and five Saturdays. July 2009 contained 23 weekdays (including one holiday) and four Saturdays.

During calendar year 2010 through July, shell eggs broken totalled 1,182 million dozen, up two per cent from the comparable period in 2009. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2010 was 1,541 million pounds, up two per cent from 2009.
