US Monthly Egg Products Report - September 2010

US - Three per cent more shell eggs were broken during August 2010 than the same month a year earlier, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in its monthly Egg Products report.

Shell eggs broken totalled 177 million dozen during August 2010, up three per cent from August a year ago but two per cent below the 179 million broken last month.

During calendar year 2010 through August, shell eggs broken totalled 1,359 million dozen, up two per cent from the comparable period in 2009. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2010 was 1,766 million pounds, up two per cent from 2009.

August 2010 contained 22 weekdays and four Saturdays, while August 2009 contained 21 weekdays and five Saturdays.
