Accordingly, four million eggs will be sold through CWE centers in the country, reports Daily News.

Wholesale price of an egg is marked at Rs 11 while retail price is Rs 12 each.

Even though poultry producers recently claimed that they could sell an egg for Rs 10, they have still not been able to do so.

Mr Fernando said that the present price of an egg in the market is between Rs 16 and Rs 16.50 so that the Government will continue importing eggs until the poultry producers reduce their market price.

The Minister requested the poultry producers not to exploit consumers.
