During the fourth quarter, the volume of chicken meat sales to third parties increased by two per cent compared with fourth-quarter 2009, reaching 81,900 tonnes. Full-year volumes increased by 21 per cent to 331,400 tonnes.

The company said growth was mainly a result of phase two of the Myronivka poultry farm operating at full capacity full year.

Chicken meat prices were less affected by grain prices growth than other meats and as a result consumer demand for chicken remained high, with MHP able to sell close to 100 per cent of its production.

MHP's 2010 grain harvest was lower-yielding than in 2009 due to weather conditions but still significantly higher than Ukraine's average per hectare.

The lower yields in Eastern Europe also effected price increases, resulting in increased profitability per hectare.
