Three More ND Outbreaks in Village Flocks

ISRAEL - There have been three new outbreaks of Newcastle disease (ND) in the last week.

The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 7 dated 14 February to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report outlines three new outbreaks of Newcastle disease that started in the previous week. Two outbreaks were in Hamerkaz and one in Hazafon; all were in 'village' flocks. In all, 39,005 were affected, of which 8,005 showed symptoms and 3,505. In all, 17,000 birds were destroyed.

On the source of infection, the report adds that some outbreaks are connected epidemiologically through persons or equipment that passed from one farm to another.
