Bird Flu Outbreaks in Shimane and Aomori Regions
JAPAN - The Japanese veterinary authorities have reported three outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in the regions of Shimane and Aomori.The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 8 yesterday, 16 March. According to the report, the affected population consists of tufted duck also known as Aythya fuligula.
A total of three cases were identified, revealing a 100 per cent apparent fatality rate.
The source of the outbreak has still not been determined.
