Dhaka Hosts International Poultry Show

BANGLADESH - The country's biggest poultry exhibition, International Poultry Show and Seminar-2011, will begin tomorrow (Friday) in Dhaka with a view to boosting poultry industry in Bangladesh.

According to Financial Express of Bangladesh, 23 countries including the US, German, Franch, China, India and Pakistan will take part at the three-day event schedule to be held at Bangabandhu International Conference centre in the city.

President of WPSA-BB Md Abdur Razzak Mia made the announcement in a press briefing at the National Press Club yesterday. World's Poultry Science Association-Bangladesh Branch (WPSA-BB) is organising the seventh edition of the event.

Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury will attend the show as the chief guest, while Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque and Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas will present as special guests.

Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Ujjwal Bikash Dutta, Director General of Department of Livestock Services Md ashraf Ali will also present as guest of honour.

Mr Mia said the farmers will see the world's scientific and technological development in the sector through the exposition.

"Poultry farming, production, breeding, hatchery, feed mill, medicine, marketing and management will also be available in the mega event," he added.

Mr Razzak also said that in the sixth International show around 6.0 billion to 700 billion taka (BDT) business deal was signed, which is expected to rise by BDT10 billion this year.

Secretary of WPSA-BB. Dr M.A. Saleque, said the 7th International show and seminar will put higher emphasis on having controlling over Avian Influenza.

There will be 246 stands in the show including local and overseas. The expo will remain open to visitors from 9:00 to 18:00 every day.

WPSA-BB has been organising the International Poultry Show and Seminar since 1999, reports Financial Express.
