Growth in Poultry, Pork, Milk Production Forecast
RUSSIA - Russia’s poultry production is projected to increase by 350,000 to 400,000 tonnes, pork output – by 300,000 tonnes and milk production by 1.5 million tonnes in 2011, First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov said during Friday's televised conference devoted to the preparations for the spring sowing activities.“I think that the assistance, which the government renders for the spring sowing activities and development of stock farming, will allow Russia’s farmers to achieve such high results,” he said.
According to Itar-Tass, earlier in the day, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that the government considers the possibility to assign additionally 12.5 billion roubles (US$1 = RUB28.47) for the support of stock farms.
“Now, we are considering the possibility to assign additionally from the federal budget funds [worth RUB12.5 billion] for the support of poultry and pig farms in 2011,” Prime Minister Putin said.
