HPAI Found in Myanmar's Layer Population

MYANMAR - Myanmar has reported a new outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in layer chickens aged 6 to 11 months.

The country's veterinary authorities sent follow-up report no. 3 to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on Friday, 4 March.

A total of 6700 chickens were found susceptible to the outbreak, out of which 1800 cases were identified. Totally, 626 chickens died within 5 days out of 1,800 cases.

The source of the outbreak has not yet been confirmed.
