Six New Newcastle Disease Outbreaks in Israel

ISRAEL - Six new outbreaks of Newcastle disease have been reported in the Hamerkaz, Hadarom and Hazafon.

The veterinary authorities sent follow-up report no. 9 to the World Organisation for Animal Health on Sunday, 6 March. The affected population comprises broilers.

A total of 1,89,000 broilers were found susceptible. While 26,8000 cases and 6500 deaths were recorded, 1,24,500 were destroyed.

While the source of the outbreak has not yet been confirmed, fomites from humans, vehicles, feed etc. are suspected to be the main cause.

According to the report, some outbreaks are connected epidemiologically through persons or equipment that passed from one farm to another.
