Fundamentals Poultry Welfare Online Training Course

UK - As consumers become more interested in the welfare of animals involved in food production, demand is rising for transparency across the supply chain. To help promote the importance of poultry welfare at slaughter, RL Consulting has developed a new, online poultry handing training course.

Within 40 minutes, The Fundamentals of Poultry Welfare at Slaughter course introduces the theoretical aspects of live animal handling that will ensure employees understand how humane treatment and best practice can affect the welfare of the animal and the quality of the finished product.

  • Multi-lingual: Using an assigned password, the candidate clicks through a series of slides at their own pace, in their chosen language. This ensures a strong understanding of the content (currently available in English, Polish, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Mandarin).

  • Easy: a clear and intuitive navigation route makes it accessible to staff with limited or no computer skills.
  • Visual content: Using 'do' and 'don’t' indicators, minimal text and bold graphics clearly illustrate how to identify and alleviate problems that may arise during transportation, arrival and at slaughter.

  • Reinforced messaging: Interactive questions at the end of each topic reinforce the welfare messages and increase message retention before a multiple choice online exam on completion of the course.

  • Certificate of completion: A personalised certificate is immediately generated, which is transferable to other employment.

The first online training courses available from RL Consulting cover the fundamentals of poultry welfare at slaughter and the fundamentals of duck welfare at catching on farm.

Courses in pig welfare at slaughter, cattle welfare at slaughter and salmon welfare at catching and slaughter are in the final stages of release and will be available in the coming months. To meet requirements, additional species-specific and production-specific courses are also in development.
