Poultry meat production is expected to rise to 3.15 million tons in 2011 from 2.83 million in 2010, Galina Bobylyova, general director of the Russian Poultry Breeders Union industry lobby, told an agricultural conference this week.

Moscow Times reports that she said poultry consumption would be practically unchanged this year at 3.50 million tons, compared with 3.49 million in 2010. Imports will shrink to 390,000 tons from 688,000 tons last year, and will include 40,000 tons imported from Belarus free of duty, as it is the member of the customs union with Russia and Kazakhstan.

Pork output will rise to 2.43 million tons this year from 2.31 million tons in 2010, Yury Kovalyov, chief executive of the National Pig Breeders' Union, told the conference.
