Viet Nam Reports One New Bird Flu Outbreak

VIET NAM - There has been one new outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in a village flock in central Viet Nam.

The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 50 dated 21 April to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes one new outbreak of HPAI, starting on 7 April, in a 1,250-bird village flock at Hung Nhon in Quang Tri province. All the birds have been destroyed.

The presence of the H5N1 sub-type of the HPAI virus has been confirmed.
