US Egg Products Report - May 2011

US - Shell eggs broken totalled 164 million dozen during April 2011, four per cent down on the same month last year, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in their monthly Egg Products report for May 2011.

Shell eggs broken totalled 164 million dozen during April 2011, down four per cent from April a year ago, and nine per cent below the 180 million broken last month.

During calendar year 2011 through April, shell eggs broken totalled 669 million dozen, up four per cent from the comparable period in 2010. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2011 was 874 million pounds, up four per cent from 2010.

April 2010 contained 22 weekdays (including no holidays) and four Saturdays, while April 2011 contained 21 weekdays (including no holidays) and five Saturdays.
