Low-Path Bird Flu Found on Six More Farms

GERMANY - Surveillance has revealed a subclinical infection of low-pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) at six more poultry farms in North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony.

The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 5 dated 30 June to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes the finding of LPAI-infected birds on six more farms in the regions of North Rhine-Westphalia (where other farms have been affected recently) and in Saxony between 22 and 28 June. In total, 27,338 birds have been affected; 20 showed symptoms, one died and the remaining 27,337 birds have been destroyed.

The presence of the H7N7 sub-type of the LPAI virus has been confirmed..
