US Egg Products Report – June 2011

US - Shell eggs broken totalled 175 million dozen during May 2011, two per cent down on the same month last year, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in their monthly Egg Products report for June 2011.

Shell eggs broken totalled 175 million dozen during May 2011, up two per cent from May a year ago, and seven per cent above the 164 million broken last month.

During calendar year 2011 through May, shell eggs broken totalled 844 million dozen, up three per cent from the comparable period in 2010. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2011 was 1,103 million pounds, up three per cent from 2010.

May 2010 contained 21 weekdays (including one holiday) and five Saturdays, while May 2011 contained 22 weekdays (including one holiday) andfour Saturdays.
