US Egg Products Report – August 2011

US - Shell eggs broken totalled 180 million dozen during July 2011, slightly more than in the same month last year, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in their monthly Egg Products report for August 2011.

Shell eggs broken totalled 180 million dozen during July 2011, up slightly from July a year ago but three per cent below the 185 million broken last month.

During calendar year 2011 through July, shell eggs broken totalled 1,209 million dozen, up two per cent from the comparable period in 2010.

To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2011 was 1,568 million pounds, up two per cent from 2010.

July 2010 contained 22 weekdays (including one holiday) and five Saturdays, while July 2011 contained 21 weekdays (including one holiday) and five Saturdays.
