Ag Council to Discuss Hen Directive Implementation

The 3120th session of the Council of the European Union – Agriculture and Fisheries – is scheduled to take place today (Thursday 20 October) and tomorrow in the Conference Centre – FIL in Luxembourg, under the presidency of Marek Sawicki, Minister for Rural Development of Poland.
Among the points on the agenda for discussion at the session is the implementation of the directive concerning the welfare of laying hens, which will result in a ban on the use of conventional battery cages for laying hens from 1 January 2012.
