Newcastle Disease Hits Northern Broiler Farm
ISRAEL - A new outbreak of Newcastle disease has bene reported at a farm in the north of the country.The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 1 dated 26 October to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
The outbreak started on 25 October in a village flock of 120,000 six-week-old broilers at Shetula in Hazafon. In all, 15,000 birds showed symptoms and 5,000 died. The birds were housed in six adjacent pens. The mortality was seen in all the pens. All birds will be destroyed by 27 October 2011 by foam.
The source of infection is under investigation.
