Newcastle Disease Outbreak Affects Turkeys

ISRAEL - Dr Nadav Galon, Director of Veterinary Services and Animal Health in Israel's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has reported an outbreak of Newcastle disease in Hazafon.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 6 on 1 January. The affected population consists of 30-day-old turkeys.

A total of 19000 birds were found susceptible to the outbreak, out of which 3000 cases were identified. A total of 3000 deaths was recorded, and the remaining 16000 turkeys were destroyed.

The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive and the epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
