FG to Revive Avutu Poultry Farm in Imo

NIGERIA - The Federal Government has expressed willingness to revive the dilapidated Imo Modern Poultry farm located at Avutu, Obowo local government area of the state.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Akin Adesina, gave this during a recent visit to the state, according to Daily Trust.

He said effort would be made to resuscitate the estate which is believed to have gulped billions of naira already but is now abandoned and overgrown with bush.

Dr Adesina also promised to revive the Imo oil palm industry to ensure full scale production as a way of growing the state and nation’s economy in line with the value chain development under the Agricultural Transformation Agenda.

He said improved palm seedlings for about 3,000 hectare of land would be provided.

A statement from the ministry signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Dr Oyeleye Olukayode notes that the Egbeme Oil Palm plantation would be given the required attention to fully revitalize it.
