No Choice at Free Range Egg Talks

AUSTRALIA - Consumer group Choice has been excluded from participating in egg industry talks over what can be labelled as free-range.

ABC reports that currently, there's no standardised method for labelling free-range eggs, and the guidelines proposed by most of the industry have angered free-range farmers and animal welfare groups.

Ingrid Just from Choice says it's disappointing that the forum will go ahead without consumer representation.

"It's critical to have all the key players at the table right from the get-go so that all the perspectives are listened to and discussed and there is agreement when the final decision is made as to what that free range capacity is."
