Events such as seminars, roadshows and workshops play an important part in knowledge transfer and education and also provide a great opportunity for the company’s customers to share experiences with each other, meet the wider Aviagen team and to provide feed-back to our breeding programme.

For Aviagen, understanding its customers’ businesses and their needs is of paramount importance and they enjoy the opportunities to spend time with customers and their customers.

A whistle–stop tour of Aviagen events over the past few months includes:

Europe

Aviagen and long-standing Ross distributor, Moy Park, held a series of seminars for customers within the Republic of Ireland covering both breeder and broiler topics, including the chicken’s physiological growth curve, male fertility and hatchability, chick start, ventilation and enteric health.

Exchange visits between customers from different regions also assist with communication and the sharing of best practice. A group of Hungarian integrators recently toured UK facilities and the feed-back was very positive, with one of the visitors commenting: “Visiting other poultry companies, sharing experiences and exchanging information is always positive and helps all of us improve performance of our Ross chicks.”

Aviagen Italia recently held a broiler seminar for customers in Bologna with presentations from a number of key Aviagen experts. The event attracted over 85 attendees representing all players in the Italian poultry industry. Incubation, nutrition and R&D topics featured on the agenda.

Middle East

Aviagen, in connection with their Ross distributor, Vano, part of the Rasun group, arranged a series of seminars in Kurdistan, part of Iraq. These seminars were the first opportunities for the teams to personally visit Iraq. During the period of political unrest, the teams used video–conferencing and other remote facilities to continually stay in touch with their customers. Ross Sales Manager John Maguire commented: “The poultry industry in Iraq is steadily growing and we believe it is important to let our customers there know that we are here to stay.”

Latin America

The first Aviagen Business Conference for Latin America (ABC-LA) customers took place in Cancun, Mexico. The goal of this inaugural event was to share information and experiences in order to promote increased trade among the participants. Mexico was chosen as the venue for this important event because it is the fifth largest poultry producer in the world and continues to grow in importance.
