USPoultry Awards Grant to Texas A&M
US - Texas A&M University recently received a student recruiting grant from the USPOULTRY Foundation. Accepting the check in the amount of $24,910 was Dr Jimmy Keeton, Interim Head of the Department of Poultry Science.The presentation was made by Brian
Barrett, President, Feather Crest Farms and USPOULTRY board member.
“The generous support provided by the USPOULTRY Foundation enables the Department of
Poultry Science to recruit and retain exceptional students through programmes and activities that are
student focused, promote all facets of the poultry industry, and provide learning opportunities
over a broad spectrum of topics. It is our goal to prepare students in such a manner that they not
only succeed, but also become leaders in this global industry,” Dr Keeton remarked.
The USPOULTRY Foundation board recently approved student recruiting grants totaling more
than $160,000 to the six US universities with poultry science departments and 15 other
institutions with industry related programmes. The Foundation provides annual recruiting funds to
colleges and universities to attract students to their poultry programmes.
