Gainesvilletimes.com reports that as part of an agreement last year, the Gainesville-Hall County Development Authority was required to prepare the site for construction before the state would close on the property.

Paul L. Melvin, spokesman for the State Properties Commission, said that once closing was completed, “the contractor is required to be on site within 10 calendar days.”

The commission, led by Gov. Nathan Deal, voted in August to buy 10 acres in the future 518-acre Gateway Industrial Centre off Ga. 365, spending $69,000 per acre.

The new building, expected to be complete by 2015, will be the first development in Gateway.
