The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received Follow-up report no.3 on 12 March. The outbreak has been going on since 9 January 2013.

At the poultry farm, it was noted that 2369 birds were found susceptible, out of which ten cases and deaths were reported. The remaining 2359 birds were destroyed.

According to the OI, after having been informed by the owner that his birds were sick and dying, the district and provincial veterinary services went there to investigate and took some samples (sick poultry), which were sent to NaVRI. The samples were confirmed positive for H5N1.

The source of the outbreaks remains inconclusive.
