Recently, VDL Agrotech introduced an innovative Manure Drying Tunnel at the Dutch exhibition, Landbouw Vakbeurs in Den Bosch, The Netherlands.

Many visitors were informed about the latest benefits of this industrial quality drying system which dries manure up to 80 per cent dry matter content within 72 hours, and contributes to a considerable reduction in fine dust of approximately 70 per cent.

How does the Manure Drying Tunnel work?

Perforated steel plates driven by a railchain transport the manure on the tunnel. Ventilation air from the poultry house is blown through the drying plates and the manure. The plates have a 35 per cent perforated opening, allowing fast and easy drying. A turning spreader divides the manure evenly on the top layer of the tunnel. A dry matter content of 80 per cent can be reached within 72 hours.

Forced tilting of the plates prevents failures

At the end of the tunnel, the plate tilts and the manure is forced to drop to the underlying levels. Manure then moves in opposite direction. The automatically forced 'drop to the next level' system prevents the manure from sticking to the plate.

Fast and flexible construction in the house

'Pouldry' is set up at the side or at the end of the house. Depending the lay-out of the equipment and building(s), VDL Agrotech offers consultancy for the best solution concerning placement and positioning of the Pouldry. The current maximum length of the Pouldry is 33 metres.

Operation is extremely user friendly, the touchscreen can easily be controlled by an operator.
