A slightly smaller bird which has a strong following in France, Switzerland and Slovakia, the Ross PM3 is growing in popularity thanks to its smaller size, lower production cost and excellent chick output. The bird is aimed at niche markets where space may be at a premium and feed costs are especially high.

Kris van Daele, Sales & Technical Manager and Chairman of the Ross PM3 working group, Aviagen EPI, said:

“The Ross PM3 has been a great success. It is the perfect bird for many markets offering superior performance to customers compared with equivalent birds from other breeders.

“As a dwarf female, at Parent Stock level, the bird is great when stocking density is under pressure. At the same time, backed by the genetics of the world’s leading poultry breeding company, the Ross PM3 shares many of the impressive traits customers expect from Aviagen, a robust bird with excellent breeding potential and quality chicks. Broiler performance is similar to that of the highly popular Ross 308.”

Good nutrition is at the heart of a successful flock. The nutrition requirements of the PM3 have been reviewed by Aviagen’s expert team to ensure product performance is maximised. Recommendations are designed to match feed intake with nutrient requirement to promote optimal reproductive performance in a cost-effective manner.

A Ross PM3 working group, consisting of technical managers who have experience of working with the product in various markets, was also formed to set the standards and review product performance. The new performance objectives reflect real world, attainable performance.

As always, a key factor for Aviagen is ensuring that the literature is relevant and local. The new Ross PM3 material will be available in several languages, including Russian. Any customers interested in finding out more about the Ross PM3 can contact their local Aviagen representative. Copies of the new specifications are also available from the Aviagen website.
