OIE Reports HPAI Outbreak in Tibet
CHINA - The Chinese veterinary authorities have reported an outbreak of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in a village flock of chickens and geese in Tibet.The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received an immediate notification on 13 May, stating that the affected population comprises chickens and geese.
Out of 407 susceptible birds, 35 cases and deaths were reported. The remaining 372 birds were destroyed (341 chickens and 31 geese).
Several control measures have been applied to contain the situation.
The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
