Omtron USA LLC laid off hundreds of workers last year after the purchase of the Townsend processing plant.

A group of chicken farmers sued the company in 2011 as it started to cut down on local operations, according to a report in the Triangle Business Journal.

The farmers accused Omtron, which is owned by a Ukrainian businessman of breaking contracts and claimed they were owed $9 million.

Omtron filed for bankruptcy in November last year and last week launched n adversary proceeding against the farmers.

The company claims the farmers’ claims on the assets of Omtron are invalid.
