Chicken Meat Exports up in May
BRAZIL - Brazilian exports of chicken meat increased by 1.9 per cent between April and May, totalling 313,300 tons. However, it is common knowledge that exports rates are based on the volume shipped in the same period of previous years. Compared to May 2012, there was a reduction of 7.4 per cent.
According to Cepea researchers, it is likely that this result has been reflected in increased domestic supply, which helps to explain the decline in domestic prices of meat.
According to surveys from Cepea, chick prices have been increasing since the beginning of the year, which corroborates the perception that processing plants were preparing for foreign sales.
