Pilgrim’s Pride to Cut 200 Jobs

US – US poultry processor Pilgrim’s Pride is to cut 200 jobs at its Chattanooga processing plant.

According to a report in the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the company is shortly to close its cook and cold storage unit in Market Street.

The company is not to make any changes to its slaughter operations in Broad Street or its deboning facilities in Market Street.

The company is reported to have already laid off 400 people since the beginning of 2012.

The company is said to be offering jobs to those laid off at its other plants in the town.
