This gathering of vets from across Latin America was, on this occasion, aimed at diagnosing and controlling Gumboro disease and swollen head syndrome.

Participating as speakers were doctors Guillermo Zavala, who presented a review of the major respiratory problems in poultry production; Alejandro Banda, with the key factors for diagnosing and controlling Gumboro disease in the Americas; Enrique Peña with technical results from field trials with Gumboro vaccines in Venezuela and Javier S. Corella (HIPRA), who proposed monitoring programmes for control of respiratory and reproductive problems caused by avian metapneumovirus.

Before concluding, veterinarians from more than 15 countries in the Americas held a panel discussion on the continent’s pathology problems.

The day after, those attending the Latin American Poultry Congress had the opportunity to personally converse, at HIPRA’s stand, with Dr. Alejandro Banda, expert in the diagnosis and control of Gumboro disease.

By promoting dialogue forums and training for all professionals in the poultry industry in Latin America HIPRA demonstrates its commitment to prevention in animal health.
